Maximizing The Anti-Cancer Power Of Broccoli
Maximizing The Anti-Cancer Power Of Broccoli
My neighbor got me interested in sprouting broccoli and using the heated sprouts in a drink. Not the best tasting, but let's see how I feel after trying this for a week or so.

Our Food Sources
Trying to stay informed...reading the paper. But all it does (absorbing this news) is give me a queasy feeling in my solar plexus.
What really got to me today was the piece entitled "Regulated to Death." Meaning the death of family farms, but also our death, because if we have no local produce, Monsanto will move in and poison our food supply.
People are becoming more conscious of what they eat and where they get their food. This is a good thing because GMOs are certainly not. Well, the FDA and bedfellow Monsanto have to fight back somehow. The FDA is bringing in restrictions that will devastate family farms. They just won't be able to survive and pay the price for such things as water testing requirements and the mountains of paperwork that will go with these measures. Where would we be without family farms and farmers markets?
If you feel as strongly as I do, please do some research and write to your congressmen.

Peace for Ponies
On my most recent visit to the Peace for Ponies barn I took a few pictures of Precious and her foal Destiny.
In the midst of a heat wave, the wee lad took a break from running about raising the Devil. Precious had a visit from a possible new owner. Their bonding was short of miraculous.
The Peace for Ponies group is gratefully accepting donations to rescue another pregnant mare that would otherwise be doomed for slaughter. Your tax deductible donation can be sent to:

One of those Daze
Feeling good about getting some projects done....however right in the middle of finishing a quilted bottle holder (photo to come later) I had to cut some material. Now where did I put my rotary cutter? Searching...no luck downstairs, so up into the Crap Room I go. A long time later, still no cutter...but I made two Valentine cards. What can I do to the blue one? It needs something. I used the confetti paper to paint the water color heart. It was hard to blend so next time I'll use water color paper. The other card was made from drawing a heart on aluminum foil. A ruler and black sharpie was used for the straight lines then colored with various sharpie markers. I got this from http://www.artprojectsforkids.org/.
Comments welcomed! Thanks.

2012
Not much to say...Minou crossed the Rainbow bridge on December 21, 2011. We miss her terribly...so of course we adopted a little girl, Reeses. She is very talkative and quickly took over the house.
